Overview

We believe education is one of the most important ways a parent invests in rearing a child in the way they should go, as we are called to do in Deuteronomy 6. While the sole responsibility of raising children in the Lord rests on the parents, ECS comes alongside and partners with parents in the weighty task of educating their children. 

A collaborative education is one that provides a unique opportunity for students by combining the benefit of a classroom environment with professional teachers and with aspects of the home environment. This allows parents to continue to invest, steer, and pour into their child’s hearts and minds. The aim of collaborative education is to marry the best elements of a private traditional Christian education and homeschooling.  This results in a Collaborative, or “hybrid”, model of education.

  • Students are on campus two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursadays) under teacher instruction.

  • Students are at home three days a week (*Monday, Wednesday, Friday) under parental instruction, with lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.

  • Parents (co-teachers) share responsibility for instruction with the professional, on-campus teacher who provides classroom instruction and take-home assignments.  Parents do not need prior teaching experience.

  • Evergreen Classical School makes core curriculum choices, but families can supplement as often and as much as desired. 

  • Education is both individualized and classroom oriented. Students receive the benefits of one-on-one tutoring at home and a small classroom learning environment on-campus. 

  • The hybrid model provides a smooth transition to college, based on the number of hours on campus per week and the emphasis on time management and responsibility.

 
 

*In primer and grammar school (Kinder - 6th grade), Mondays are a flex day - a day for catching up on assignments, attending enrichment activities, or spending quality time together as a family. For logic (7th - 8th grade) and rhetoric schools (9th - 12th grade), Mondays are used as flex days and/or for potential additional coursework at home.
