UNITY

Evergreen Classical School is unified in agreeing with the Evergreen Statement of Faith. The beauty of “being of one mind, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose” (Phil 2:2b) allows us to magnify our joy as we are better able to serve one another and our Creator God. We stand firm in faith together with Christ, the Cornerstone, and our Statement of Faith affirmed.

Christian Role of Evergreen and Families:

Evergreen Classical School must put Christ first in all things and we expect parents (co-teachers) to put Christ first in all things as well.  Evergreen is a ministry to families as we purpose together in discipling students as part of the Church. Evergreen is not designed to replace a local church body, but rather is meant to support and encourage the local church. We humble ourselves before one another and seek to encourage and admonish one another in the ways of Christ and His teachings.

In Deuteronomy 6:7 we are told to “impress [the commands of the Lord] on your children, talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” We are impressing the commands and teachings of the Lord on our students in a partnership between Evergreen and its families. God designed families to flourish with this beautiful model of the parents building into their children the things of Christ. It is a privilege for Evergreen to partner with parents by providing a classroom environment and curriculum for families to use. Evergreen is meant to bring rich biblical material to the table for your student to learn, discuss, and engage with whether through reading of great books, a simple artist study, or a Latin lesson; God is undoubtedly the author and perfecter of our faith (Heb 12:2), the Creator of the world (Gen 1:1), and the organizer of languages (Gen 11:1-9, Acts 2:8).

In our lessons we hope to see more of who God is and have faith that He is revealing himself to the heart of each student at Evergreen.  We recognize that only the Holy Spirit can lead hearts to full submission to Christ but we trust we are creating “good soil” so that when the Holy Spirit makes himself known to the student he or she may have deep roots.   Matthew 13:23 reads, “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it.  This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

How do we Create “Good Soil” Practically?

At Evergreen our campus days will begin together in worship for Morning Assembly. We glorify God through the singing of hymns, scripture, catechism (or bible faith sound offs) and a short encouragement from scripture.  Evergreen Classical has prayer throughout the day and every lunch hour “The Lord’s Prayer” is heartily prayed.

We present material and curriculum that promotes Truth, Goodness and Beauty in the way of building virtue and wisdom.  We will study the order of God, creativity, and design throughout the Quadrivium subjects. We will enable students by using the Trivium to match their developmental stages toward the end goal upon graduation to embody 1 Peter 3:15: “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” We will strive for excellence in all things creating a day of order and peaceful instruction amidst the discipline of academics.
